I have a YM226. It needs a new battery. The tractor is at my mountain property and I forgot to get the model number
(or at least info on an equivalent size) on the battery.
Does anyone know what size or type or model # equivalent battery will fit in my tractor? I would like to buy a new one while I am here in the 'city'. Thanks!

Use a Group 24 off-road battery (not an automotive battery). ....

Jam may know the tractor, and the off-road battery may be a good choice. I'd be a little reluctant to buy a battery unless I was certain that it had adequate AH and CCA ratings and definitely would fit in the compartment--or I knew I could use the new battery for something else if it didn't fit.

When I replaced a battery my manuals gave me the CA and CCA specs but not the physical dimensions. I am too far from a dealer to even think about getting a factory replacement. I measured the physical dimensions and found an auto battery that would fit and exceeded the CCA specs. With auto batteries there are several issues such as how steep a slope they can tolerate and where the venting goes, but mine has worked fine for me for 3+ years. Something specifically for off-road use would be better though.

If you aren't certain what will work an alternative might be to get a new battery for your truck and use it to jump start the start the tractor until you're certain of the battery that's needed. That and a small charger should keep the tractor working unless the tractor lights are needed a lot. ....
